Not much going on this week as well. Spent most of my time commenting on the first batch of papers from my summer class.
Last night, me and the boys were able to play a bit more in our sci-fi RPG, but there was no DBA. Robert did, however, make up for the lack of DBA with cake, so all’s good. I pulled a switch on the group this week and ported the whole RPG over to Shatterzone from Traveller. Traveller is a nifty system, but so much of it seemed geared toward making the players play the part of interstellar vacuum sellers. Lots of rules for trading goods and toting passengers around and keeping current on your starship’s mortgage. I was having a hard time keeping the parts I didn’t like in the system separate from the parts I did, so I made the switch. The characters converted nicely with only a little loss of detail. And I feel much more comfortable returning to a system I know well. (Shatterzone is based on Torg, which is one of my favorite RPGs.)
The session last night was fun. A couple of good fights against pirates, and one major act of decompression. The characters have almost reached Planet X, so I’m excited about what they might find there.
